  • 2004 - GLAD represented the City of Portland, Maine against an attack on the city's domestic partnership registry, and secures an affirmation that the city was well within its authority to protect the health and welfare of its citizens through the registry.
  • 2003 - GLAD wins a Maine high court ruling that Probate Judges have the power to issue full co-guardianships to same-sex couples.

  • 2001-2003 -GLAD fights for parental rights and responsibilities for a non-biological lesbian mother whose former partner sought to terminate contact between her and the child they jointly raised in Freeport.

  • 1999- GLAD successfully advocates for a gay student in southern Maine targeted for harassment by his peers when administrators sought to "solve the problem" by graduating him a year early.

  • 1999 - GLAD wins the restoration of disability insurance benefits for a Portland man who was unable to work due to severe HIV-related fatigue.

  • 1999 - GLAD helps an HIV-positive prisoner in Maine obtain proper medical care.

  • 1998 - GLAD intervenes to allow a gay father to volunteer at his son's Oakland elementary school without being subjected to a degrading criminal background check.

  • 1998 - GLAD wins a landmark victory at the US Supreme Court on behalf of a Bangor woman denied treatment by a dentist based on her HIV status.

  • 1996 - GLAD wins domestic partnership benefits for families in the University of Maine system after a 6-year struggle.
